Animoca Brands (ASX:AB1) is bringing the creepy, kooky Addams Family to mobile phones, ahead of the release of a new animated film on the iconic, spooky American family.

At a glance

  • A collaboration between Animoca Brands’ wholly-owned subsidiary Pixowl and MGM Interactive will see the launch of the official Addams Family mobile game
  • It will be released on Android and iOS by the end of the September quarter, with the film out in mid-October
  • The Addams Family Mystery Mansion will invite players to help Morticia and Gomez to reunite the rest of the family and re-furnish their home

The Addams Family has been around since 1938, when it was first published in comic form by Charles Addams. Since, there have been numerous televisual adaptations, with the latest, featuring the voices of Charlize Theron and Bette Midler, to be released worldwide in October.

Animoca’s subsidiary Pixowl has a non-exclusive licence to use the property and assets of The Addams Family to develop, distribute, and monetise the game for a period of just over five years.

The game will be free-to-play with optional in-app purchases, further expanding Animoca Brands’ already impressive revenue stream, which includes blockchain-based games like CryptoKitties to products based on Garfield, Snoopy and Thomas & Friends to engineering tie-ups with big brands, in the case of its F1 Delta Time game.
