Novita Healthcare’s (ASX:NHL) US strategy is showing signs of paying off, striking a deal with US-based CareStarter to access a channel with 25,000 families.

CareStarter is venture-backed platform which automates and scales paediatric care management, and is able to deliver STAR Kids plans.

That’s important as it delivers a Medicaid managed care program to children and adults under 20 years old in the Lone Star state.

However, not only has Novita’s flagship Tali Train program been added to the platform, but it will also be promoted as a core partner for CareStarter.

Parents in the US will now have increased awareness of the product thanks to the promotion, and also have the means to access Tali through their insurance, health coverage plan, or just by buying the product out-of-pocket.

While the CareStarter partnership is positive news for Novita, managing director Glenn Smith flagged it as the start of things to come in the US.

“We are excited by this partnership as it provides a trusted channel partner in the US healthcare sector for Tali Train. In the first phase of the partnership Tali will be able to be accessed by the tens of thousands of children suitable for Tali that CareStarter currently services in Texas,” he said.

With one in every 59 children in the USA having some form of ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and 6.1m children under 17 having ADHD, the US is shaping as a key market for Novita.

There has been increased awareness around digital therapeutics in the US as an alternative to expensive drug therapies.

The US Center for Disease Control and Prevention says about 69 percent of children who are either six, seven, or eight years old are taking drugs to alleviate the symptoms of ADHD — but drugs are often not administered to children below this age bracket for fear of their effects.

It’s hoped digital programs such as Tali Train would be able to be administered sooner in a child’s life — a hope shared by CareStarter.

“At CareStarter we believe the best healthcare must start in early childhood just as the team at Tali do,” CareStarter founder Lamarque Polvado said.

“Working with a like minded company will enable us to deliver world class content and tools like Tali to the millions of American children who deserve the best healthcare available”.
