Blockchain and mobile gamer Animoca Brands (ASX:AB1) is having no trouble attracting top-tier talent, hiring a mining heavyweight and a million-dollar artist as advisors in the past week.
John Madden — not the former NFL player whose name adorns the video games — has been appointed as a financial advisor, while internationally acclaimed artist Kevin Abosch has joined the company as creative director.
Madden has three decades’ worth of experience in financial reporting with small unlisted companies to big cap businesses. The majority of his career was spent with Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO).
“I am extremely pleased to have the opportunity to be part of this exciting company. I look forward to assisting Animoca Brands’ dynamic growth as it continues to establish itself as a leading player in blockchain technologies and gaming,” Madden said of his appointment.
Animoca also announced today it had appointed Kevin Abosch, a New York City-based artist, as creative director. He is charged with providing creative advice and direction for its existing games.
Abosch has sold a number of works for more than $1 million and has a deep interest in blockchain — he previously worked with fellow highly-regarded artist Ai Weiwei to create a digital token called PRICELESS.
“As an artist, I explore the nature of identity and value, so working with Animoca Brands on projects such as The Sandbox and F1 Delta Time is extremely exciting,” Abosch said.
Yat Siu, co-founder and chairman at Animoca said the appointments were testament to his company’s ability to attract top-tier talent.
“The appointment of Kevin Abosch and John Madden is proof of the cutting-edge nature of the work we do at Animoca Brands. We are privileged and honoured to be able to attract the top talent across different fields.”
